COMMERCIAL FONT LICENSE

Know exactly
what youre buying.

The standard sample agreement is intentionally narrow: one family, one licensed user, one clear price, and a practical boundary between finished work and the font software itself.

$20. One license. One agreement.

per family · paid once

Perpetual, non-exclusive, and non-transferable rights for personal and commercial projects, subject to the agreement.

1 licensed user
Up to 5 personal devices
Fewer than 100 employees
Commercial projects included
01 / RIGHTS INCLUDED

Web, app, client work,
and more are already covered.

Rights often sold as separate license types elsewhere are included in the standard $20 license, within its one-user limit and its limit to organizations with fewer than 100 employees.

WHAT THIS COVERS

Client work, logos, and branding are included.

Create finished identity, logos, branding, packaging, editorial, posters, websites, merchandise, and other design work for yourself or a client. The license stays with one user. A client who needs the working font software needs their own license.

02 / COVERED + NOT COVERED

What you can do.
What you can’t.

Use the fonts in finished work. Don’t share, resell, modify, or hand off the font files.

Covered

Use and share finished work within the standard user, device, and employee limits.

  1. Create finished design work

Identity, logos, branding, posters, websites, social media, merchandise, and other creative work.

  2. Share finished output

Presentations, video, static images, and other finished deliverables may be shared.

  3. Embed within the stated limits

Webfonts are covered under the employee limit; app embedding must keep the font non-extractable.

  4. Install and back up for yourself

One user may install on up to five personal devices and keep personal archival copies.

Not covered

The font software cannot be transferred, altered, trained on, or used beyond the standard scope.

  1. Redistribute or resell the software

No transfer, sublicensing, public hosting, resale, or casual file sharing.

  2. Modify or derive another font

No altering, decompiling, reverse engineering, or derivative font software.

  3. Train a model or competing product

No machine-learning or generative-AI training, or using the design as the basis for a competing product.

  4. Use standard terms at enterprise scale

A company or project involving 100 or more employees needs expanded terms first.

03 / COMMERCIAL VS. SUBSCRIPTION

Mostly the same rights.Embedding is the difference.

Both cover ordinary finished creative work. Fonts accessed through an AF Sync subscription cannot be used as webfonts or embedded in apps; purchase the family’s commercial license before either use.

AF SYNC SUBSCRIPTION

Sync

Use synced fonts for finished identity, print, packaging, social, video, and other design work while your subscription is active. Webfont use and app embedding are not included.
