Information we collect

Orders and support

When you buy a font, we use your order details, email address and payment status to process the purchase, deliver your files and provide order support. Billing information is used where needed to calculate tax.

You enter payment details with the payment provider you choose at checkout. We do not receive your full card number through checkout.

If you contact us, we receive the information you include in your message and use it to respond.

Newsletter

Our Newsletter sends occasional font release notes. If you sign up, we save your email address, signup date and signup page. The separate AF Sync launch list uses your email address, signup date and list status to send launch updates.

If you accept optional analytics, release-note signup records may also include campaign information from the signup link. This helps us understand how people find the form. Your email signup and analytics choice are separate.

You can ask us to stop these emails at any time by contacting affordablefonts@gmail.com.

Optional website analytics

If you accept optional analytics, we use identifiers stored in your browser to connect visits, font interactions, cart activity and purchases. This helps us understand how people use the website and shop.

Records can include pages and fonts viewed, actions taken, the time, cart contents and value, payment method, device type, screen width, country, referring website and campaign information. The identifiers can link activity across visits and to a purchase. These records are not anonymous.

Hosting and payment services also process connection and security information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver their services and detect abuse.

Our reasons for using information

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for optional analytics and the email lists you choose to join; our contract with you to process purchases and deliver fonts; legal obligations for required tax and transaction records; and our legitimate interests in keeping the website secure and responding to support requests.

You can choose not to provide information. We need an email address and order details to deliver a purchase, and an email address to send the updates you request. Optional analytics are not required for either service.

Cookies & your choices

Cookies and browser storage help websites remember information. Our shopping cart and your privacy preference use browser storage. Affordable Fonts’ optional analytics remain off until you choose Accept. You can browse and shop with these analytics off.

Choices made here can be saved in this browser for up to 180 days. Clearing your browser’s stored data can remove the choice sooner.

Choosing Reject stops optional tracking and asks our server to remove website analytics linked to this browser, including links to earlier checkouts. We keep the purchase records needed to deliver your fonts and support your order.

If the request cannot reach our server, this browser stops sending analytics and retries the request. It keeps the identifier needed to finish that request until the server confirms removal. If you previously cleared your browser data or used another device, contact us for help with records we can no longer link to this browser.

When your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, our optional analytics stay off. This includes browser identifiers attached to new checkout requests.

Hosting services also set a visitor cookie and cookies that help detect automated traffic. Payment providers use their own cookies on checkout pages. The optional analytics setting above does not control these cookies.

Connection details, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and help prevent abuse. These services also store website records, including optional analytics when enabled.

Payment & tax processing

Payment and billing details, your email address, order contents and transaction status to process purchases and calculate tax. Our website keeps optional browser analytics separate from the information it sends to payment providers.

Email lists & support

Your email address and signup information to maintain the lists you join, including campaign information if optional analytics is enabled. Support messages to help us answer your questions.

Purchase email delivery

Your email address, order details and download links to deliver the fonts you purchased.

Information may be processed outside the country where you live, where privacy laws can differ. Contact us for information about the providers handling your data, their processing locations and any applicable transfer safeguards.

How long we keep information

Your privacy choice can be saved in this browser for up to 180 days.

Our server also keeps a minimal permission record: a hashed browser identifier, the notice version and dates of consent or withdrawal. It helps us honor your choice and prevent delayed activity from restarting tracking. It becomes eligible for deletion 400 days after permission expires or is withdrawn, whichever is later.

Website activity and purchase analytics become eligible for deletion after 400 days. Visitor, session and cart records use 400 days from their last recorded activity. Links between analytics and checkout become eligible after 30 days. Cleanup is checked daily when the website receives requests. Deletion may take longer during inactivity or a service interruption.

Order, tax, support and email-list records are kept separately. Their retention depends on the need to provide purchase access, document a license, resolve a support request or dispute, maintain an email subscription, or meet applicable recordkeeping requirements. You can contact us to request deletion or ask about the records relating to you.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information, get a copy you can reuse, ask us to limit how we use it, or complain to a data-protection authority.

Objecting or changing your choice

You may also have a right to object to how we use your information. Contact us to make an objection or stop marketing emails. You can withdraw consent to optional analytics at any time by opening Privacy settings and choosing Reject.

Send requests to affordablefonts@gmail.com. Include enough detail to help identify the relevant signup or order. We may need to verify your identity, and some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. Do not send payment-card details with a request.

Your request can cover order, support and email-list information as well as website analytics. The analytics choice only controls optional website tracking; it does not unsubscribe you from an email list.
